From Criel-sur-Mer to Honfleur

The sunrise over the cliffs is visible from the side window.

We have breakfast, in the French way, with baguette and café au lait.

After taking a shower and repairing my bicycle tire (we had a spare tube)

we continue heading west along the coast.

The towns along the coast are very similar. An uninviting pebble beach, empty beach huts, and no nice parking spaces to linger.

The coastal towns are packed due to the public holiday on Thursday, which also exists in France. We visit several towns but there are no parking spaces available. Neither at campsites nor motorhome or car parks.

The hinterland is characterized by many mansions, country estates, and dreamlike properties in parks, as well as very, very narrow roads.

Actually, we didn't plan to drive so far today and wanted to visit the cliffs of Etretat, but in the end, we end up in Honfleur behind Le Havre. In Etretat, it was as crowded as if there was a fair. We cross the Pont de Normandie, a cable-stayed bridge that has the largest span in Europe with 856 meters. It spans the mouth of the Seine and connects Le Havre with Honfleur.

Honfleur.... A place like Disneyland and just as crowded. The motorhome site, which is huge, is full so we park next to it at the harbor basin and hope not to get a ticket. We explore Honfleur, a place that was built around a harbor basin.

Many old 6-story houses around the harbor basin and so much old building substance. But it is also very touristy and crowded.

After having dinner at the harbor, we go on the big wheel. My first time😊 with a view over Honfleur and the Seine.

We spend the sunset in front of our Rudy
