Off to Montana

Published: 15.09.2024

09/13/24 Off to Montana

The alarm system in the car had nothing to do with the thunderstorm.

Because tonight at 10 o'clock, the noise starts again.

We unlock the car directly and continue sleeping. Everything feels quite strange. We only go to the bathroom together in the dark... Because of the bears and all.

We haven't seen any yet, but I always have Captain Blue Bear next to me.

We set off without breakfast because yesterday we paid $13 for a cinnamon roll and 2 coffees.

First, we encounter a wrong-way driver and then

Bisons are hanging around by the roadside for breakfast.

Today we stop at Midway Geyser

because there are parking spots available at this time.

Jürgen has at least exchanged flip-flops for sneakers today, but he is still cold in his shorts.

The geysers here are really great, even though the steam always fogs up my glasses.

It should be just above 0 degrees today.

A quick detour over Mammoth Hot Springs and its Travertine Terraces, and then breakfast.

Shortly after exiting Yellowstone, in Gardiner, we first stock up for breakfast and then relax with fresh coffee by the Yellowstone River in Montana.

The journey goes through the truly endless expanse of Montana. You sometimes don't see any cars for ages, just wide open pastures.

In total, we drive almost 700 km, but it is absolutely not boring.

Stopover in Great Falls, the only somewhat larger city here, to shop for the next few days.

Real cowboys at Walmart... they still exist!!!

At a Ford dealer, we ask about the malfunctioning alarm system; he checks the settings but doesn't really have a clue. Still very nice!

Upon arriving in Cut Bank, we check into the Super8 Motel.

Well 🫤 our room is once again right in front of the ice machine and a train track passes by here.

The indoor pool is also a junk storage.

The furnishings are unbelievable, but it's only for one night.

What can you expect for $153?

We go out to eat again... today it's McDonald's.

Tomorrow, we will continue towards Glacier National Park.
