This place breathes history! Everything is ancient, the large door portals, the arches, these towers— old and very cozy is this Tuscan town, which sits high up on the hill. The streets are filled with small but fine shops, which are for tourists but also those where you can buy fine local things. And all the people I meet here are incredibly friendly and relaxed.
Today I bought a painting of San Gimignano and talked for a long time with the artist who exhibits her paintings in a tiny room. Her husband also paints and has a studio in the city. She says nowhere is the light as beautiful as in Tuscany, and I believe her gladly. I am looking forward to hanging it in my living room with my other Italy pictures and to remind myself how beautiful this place is.
Insight of the day: sometimes the little things bring the most joy.
