47. Bentota (Sri Lanka)

And now our journey through Sri Lanka begins - the first train ride to Bentota was already great!

The train winds its way along the sea - at the beginning past the slums of Colombo, later also through jungle-like plantations and villages!

Bentota is located in the west of Sri Lanka (80 kilometers south of Colombo) and is a beautiful small and very green place by the sea, which used to be a tourist meeting point before the pandemic - we are the first guests after 1.5 years and are warmly welcomed!

The beach of Bentota is incredibly beautiful - but here too we are almost alone again, which is existentially tragic for the population who depend on tourism with their restaurants, cafes, tuk-tuks, and shops!
