Arroyo Grande - Continuing the Journey and Arriving in Oceanside
Today it was very cloudy and not suitable for the beach temperature-wise. (No pictures) Nevertheless… we had a great lounging day and were able to plan, search, find, and secure...

Here in Oceanside, we decided to take it a bit easier.
Even though the first beach day ended up being more of a beach walk due to overcast skies, it was still really nice. Great waves, a beautiful large beach, lots of surfers, and American families who seem to bring half their household to the beach. In the evening, we had delicious sushi, which we devoured in our apartment so quickly that we didn't even have time for a photo 🍱🍣
Fortunately, the second day turned out to be sunny right from the start, and we were able to find a great spot within a 2-minute walk from our lovely apartment. It was Monday, but still surprisingly many families were out and about. You can definitely tell some Americans have German ancestry with a certain mentality that comes through: when I lit a cigarette just before leaving the beach, it took no time at all before I was pointed out for that wrongdoing. At least I wasn’t shot 😎 In the evening we cooked something delicious for ourselves.
The third day was sunny and warm again. So off to the beach☀️ spent another lovely and cozy day there.
In the evening we somehow felt like having fish again but didn’t want to spend too much money. So we did a bit of research and found the Crab Pub. Other than knowing they serve seafood, we really didn’t know much. It became quite an adventure: you order your seafood (like clams or shrimp or similar), choose your sauce and spice level, and wait bravely. When large plastic ponchos and rubber gloves were placed on the table, we already had an inkling of what was to come. But when the food was delivered in a plastic bag… with the note that we should just dump it on the table… we were a bit surprised. But everyone else did the same, so we followed suit. The food was incredibly delicious, and the way to eat it was something entirely different. We laughed a lot and spent a genuinely fun evening there.
Since we're heading towards Panama in a few days, we sat down in the evening and at least picked and booked our first accommodation.
Tomorrow we head towards Los Angeles.
