The temperatures have been steadily high but below 30 degrees with pleasant humidity in the last few days. However, we have decided to do nothing for a few days and head straight south over the mountains to the Pacific coast to San Augustín.
After crossing the pass, you can feel the ocean moisture. The vegetation changes from oak to banana shrubs and palms. In San Augustín, we are greeted with scorching heat but a cool wind from the sea.
We spend three days on the premises of a fish restaurant. At night, everyone is gone and we have the area to ourselves. It's a relief to be able to relax and not have to constantly process cultural entertainment.
During the day, we lounge on the beach with corona and lime, enjoying fresh seafood in the afternoon, and going to bed early in the evening so that we can have the beach to ourselves and watch the sunrise the next morning.
