TANJA:
In total, we get off the bus six times on the way to Montenegro to have our passports checked, so there's no chance of sleeping. Our day stopover is Dubrovnik, the Game of Thrones city. Markus simply couldn't resist the walk of shame, and because I really don't feel like being in expensive and mostly unfriendly, touristy Croatia, this is the compromise: quickly moving on to Montenegro at night...
The city and all the filming locations, like the Monument of the Sparrows or 'the Seven' and all of Kingslanding.....a perfectly polished marble path with countless romantic side streets. 35 Eur. (!) once around the city walls but we decided it's not worth it, so we'd rather hang out with Andrea, whom we meet for the third time here, after Sarajevo and Mostar, at the Chill Spot, sipping walnut schnapps. We also have a nice encounter with a young German couple who remind us of ourselves back in the days: traveling without money, meaning sleeping right there on the concrete slabs and hoping to get a lift while hitchhiking. At that moment, we almost regret having already booked the bus ticket because the Chill Spot is not a bad place to sleep, especially with a fantastic sunset in sight. We wouldn't even need to set up a tent....and there are probably many abandoned hotel lost places nearby....
This will also be our worst bus ride so far with an extremely aggressive bus driver who scams and shouts at all the tourists for luggage fees, and whose driving style is so testosterone-filled that we truly fear arriving in Montenegro in one piece.
