Seen in Rotorua and Hobbiton

Published: 25.02.2018

The lakes around Rotorua are absolutely stunning, you can also swim in Blue Lake, Green Lake is a 'sacred area' where swimming and fishing are not allowed. The volcanic Lake Tarawera is phenomenal, sitting here and having a drink or meal is the perfect timeout. On the way there, you can also visit the Buried Village, a village that was buried during a volcanic eruption.

Then we drove to Matamata and quickly reserved our desired campsite. Brocks Place, an absolutely cool place with mostly young visitors and incredibly nice owners. Very well maintained, clean, amazing view and you can buy free-range eggs in the morning. And the best part is that it was our cheapest spot at $8 per person.

Afterwards, we went about 500m to Hobbiton for our booked tour. These are the original locations of 'Bag End', the hobbit village from Lord of the Rings. Super touristy, well organized and definitely worth a visit, even for non-hardcore Lord of the Rings fans😃

Then back to the campground, cooked and ate with the great view, and then went to sleep.
