Anaa - South Seas at its best

After passing by Anaa yesterday due to immigration and customs control, we have now arrived at the atoll of Anaa today. The village of Tuuhora on Anaa has around 350 residents.

The day was full of activities. The island looks just as we imagine the South Seas: an oval, only a few meters high (about 20 years ago, protective structures against hurricanes were first built) and with seawater in the middle. Additionally, there are palm trees, many flowers, white sandy beaches, and friendly Polynesians.

In the morning, we attended a folkloric performance, a spear-throwing competition, and were provided with coconuts and local sweets. Local souvenirs were also available, especially beautiful shell necklaces, woven items, and so on. Unfortunately, we couldn't buy anything because Australia has strict import regulations and would likely confiscate everything. We couldn't even bring the floral decorations on board as the ship strictly ensures that no plants or animals are transported. We even clean our shoes and fins when returning to the ship.

After that, kayaking in and around the atoll was on the agenda. Following that, snorkeling in the coral reef. The coral reef was outstanding, full of colors and fish species, as well as other creatures. We are excited to see what comes next.
