Take-off with obstacles

Hello dear family and friends,

We are back with our little travel blog. Our plan: Over the next three months, we aim to travel from Germany through Poland, the Baltic States, and Finland all the way up to the North Cape - and then back again via Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Frank will be riding his motorcycle, while I will be in our van.

Initially, we had planned to start on July 1 - but as often happens, things got in the way.

On June 30, we were finally able to pick up our van from the workshop. After that, there was a lot of packing, tinkering, and some slight modifications. By the time everything was truly ready for departure, it turned out to be July 3. We had selected a small natural campsite near Gera for our first test drive and overnight stay. The next morning, we wanted to pick up Frank's motorcycle in Zeitz, where it was to have a final check-up.

However, just before reaching Gera, I heard a strange noise - which would lead us from one workshop to another the following day.

After some testing and with the assistance of incredibly helpful people who generously offered their time and patience, we quickly pinpointed the issue: the water pump needs to be replaced. The appointment for that is set for Monday, July 7. With a bit of luck, we will finally be able to set off properly after that.

So, things remain exciting - we will keep you updated.

The start was actually planned for 1 July - but as is so often the case, things got in the way.

We were finally able to pick up our van from the garage on 30 June. After that, we did a lot of packing, screwing and a little rebuilding. By the time everything was really ready to go, it was finally 3 July. We had chosen a small natural campsite near Gera for our first test drive and overnight stay. The next morning, we wanted to pick up Frank's motorbike in Zeitz, where it was given a final check.

Shortly before the town Gera, however, I heard a strange noise - which was to lead us from one workshop to the next the next day.

After a few tests and with the help of incredibly helpful people who spontaneously offered their time and patience, the problem was quickly found: The water pump needs to be replaced. The date for this is Monday 7 July. With a bit of luck, we'll finally be able to set off properly after that.

So it remains exciting - we'll keep you up to date.
