We left Hann Münden fairly quickly after breakfast. Unfortunately, there was no baggage storage at the train station, so we decided to go straight to Kassel. No super crowded trains and working air conditioning. €9 ticket check. In Kassel Hbf, all the lockers were already occupied and we had already tested the only coffee drinking opportunity on the way there. So we went straight to Kassel Wilhelmshöhe. Here, too, almost all of the lockers were taken, but in the end, we managed to get 2. It wouldn't have been fun to go sightseeing with luggage... Now it got exciting. You definitely need a master's degree for local transportation in Kassel, especially when every other transportation option is canceled due to staff shortage. However, we didn't want to climb the Hercules on foot. In the end, we found a suitable connection and arrived at Hercules, but much too early for the water games. Well, at least there was a nice restaurant and for a change a totally healthy salad with fried dumplings. Then we enjoyed the view a bit before the games started. What a crowd! We went down several flights of stairs and later walked on gravel paths with breaks and waiting for the water in between... which came with force. Truly impressive. Finally, we arrived at Wilhelmshöher Castle. Since we had already covered quite a distance on our pedometer, we went straight to the train station and from there to Melsungen towards the hotel we had booked for the night. 400m walk didn't sound like much, but the ascent was steeper than the one to Hercules. Phew! We were compensated with a totally cute hotel with friendly staff. We rested for a while and then went out to eat. We had delicious Indian-German-Italian food and a nice old town in Melsungen before we fell exhausted into bed.
