When we wake up at 07:30 today, the sun is blinding us. Since breakfast is no longer included today, we eat our leftovers (yogurt, milk, cereal, and the last Darvida) in the hotel room. Afterwards, we have to finish packing, check out, and drive to the Revelstoke Ski Resort. The thermometer in the car shows -11° degrees. Although we are well bundled up, we freeze our asses off on the chairlift because it's still quite windy. The snow is powdery at the top, but everything in the trees is tracked out. After yesterday's day in the powder, the conditions today leave something to be desired... Just before noon, we hike up to a peak and get a great overview of Revelstoke and the surrounding mountains. On the descent, we make a few cool turns in more or less powder snow.
We postpone lunch until 2:00 p.m. Yves finishes the day on the slopes after lunch and Christian goes up again for one last run. The lifts close at 3:00 p.m. and we head towards Golden. We have to conquer Rogers Pass on Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway). It is at an altitude of 1,400 meters and was closed for the past two days due to avalanches. We see three places where the avalanches rolled over the road. Meanwhile, everything has been cleared away, only the road is still a bit icy at times.
On the way, we again pass through a time zone change and set the clock 1 hour ahead (now we are back to 8 hours ahead of Swiss time). In Golden, we check into our accommodation for the next two nights. It's a BnB in a family's house and it looks great. Before dinner (more leftovers that we can heat up in the microwave), we have an apéritif in the hot tub. To end the day, we watch the Olympics and play "The Game." Good night or good morning.
