The Lipa Cave in Montenegro.

The Lipa Cave is a karst cave in Montenegro, near the former capital Citinje. The individual halls stretch for about 2.5km. In 2015, the cave was opened, making it the first and only cave in Montenegro accessible to the public.

Arriving at the cave, we first enjoyed a coffee in peace. The tickets were quickly bought and we had an hour left. Because the tours are conducted on an hourly basis. Then the time had finally come and we climbed into the small train, which took us the approximately 1km long way to the cave entrance. The tour was conducted by a competent young man in the local language and in English. Details were hard for us to understand, but that didn't bother us at all. We simply let the beauty of the cave wash over us. After the 30 degree daytime temperatures, we enjoyed the cool 12 degrees in the cave. On the way back, we also took the train back to the parking lot.

Right next to the cave is a small campsite with a fantastic view. We spent the night here. But first, of course, we chatted with the neighboring campers and dined in the accompanying restaurant. It had a very peculiar but well-functioning concept. You order a table with the number of hungry people. If you then arrive on time, a menu is automatically served. Cucumbers and tomatoes as appetizers and a grill plate for 2 people as the main course. Only the drinks and dessert could be freely chosen. All guests received the same menu. As far as we found out, that's also available every evening. Simple but functional and above all delicious.
