Our perfect day in the beautiful Bay of Kotor
The view from the ship was breathtaking: Kotor welcomed us as a tender port with a spectacular backdrop of steep mountain slopes that seem to sink directly into the sparkling water. Thanks to our early tender time at 09:00, everything went absolutely smoothly, and by 09:45, we were on land brimming with excitement. Our first stop was the ticket counter for the hop-on-hop-off bus. The ride around the bay was simply dreamy! For just over an hour, we enjoyed the beautiful panoramic views, passing by the idyllic fishing village of Orahovac and the picturesque Perast. This time, we intentionally chose not to join the guided tour of the old town. Since we had already done a tour on a previous trip, we preferred to explore Kotor today at our own relaxed pace.

Back on land, we let ourselves get carried away at the traditional Gradska Pijaca market and enjoyed the colorful, authentic hustle and bustle. Through the impressive sea gate, we then entered the historic heart of the old town. It felt great to be here again! Past the mighty Kampana Tower at the city wall, we were drawn directly to the bustling Weapons Square (Trg od Oruzja), where the distinctive old clock tower provided a wonderful photo opportunity.

Afterward, we simply wandered through the labyrinth of picturesque narrow streets with their beautiful historic stone houses. There was something to discover at every corner — like the elegant Pima Palace with its Baroque balconies or the Gothic Drago Palace. Of course, we couldn't miss the impressive Cathedral of Saint Tryphon with its two striking bell towers, which looks absolutely majestic. As we continued strolling, we discovered the Church of St. Mary and took a glance at the old stone arch with the steep ascent that reaches incredibly high up the fortress wall — hats off to anyone who hikes up there! We finally concluded our stroll at the cozy church square. Here, the small, historic St. Luke's Church from 1195 and the magnificent, large St. Nicholas Church stand right next to each other. A wonderfully successful day full of beautiful impressions that we will remember for a long time.
