An unremarkable day. Everything went smoothly until the departure. No bus cancellations, no queues, and still time for our departure Alster.

Well, the plane was 10 minutes late, but that still falls under the academic quarter. Waiting in the jetway for the plane reminded me of a bio sauna without colorful lights. The aircraft was a small plane with only 2-seat rows, at least there were no sweaty strangers in direct contact.

Also, as almost always, the quota child was in close proximity to us—so to speak, right next door.

Portugal Airline is also not a pioneer in creating a soundproof family area, but it didn't need to, as the rolling towards the runway rocked the child and Schaahatz to sleep.

I must correct that, the plane originally had a 10-minute delay, but we must have missed our slot or the fuel arrived too late or the luggage was too much or too little—whatever it was, we had to stew in the plane for another 25 minutes.

Waiting for departure

At 13:57 we finally head towards the runway, and 10 minutes later the quota child is awake again.

We both slept through the flight—I ended up with a stiff neck because I didn't have my neck pillow.

Approaching Lisbon

Around 18:00 local time, we arrive at Hotel 1904 Benfica.

Hotel 1904 Benfica

A charming little city hotel near Praça Restauradores.

Facts: The square serves as a reminder of the restoration of independence in 1640 after 60 years of rule by the Spaniards. The obelisk in the center of the square, inaugurated in 1886, bears the names and dates of the battles fought during the Portuguese Restoration War.

Praça Restauradores

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and lies at the mouth of the Tejo River into the Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon has about 570,000 inhabitants, with around 3 million people living in the metropolitan area.

The city is known for its seven hills, historic trams, and picturesque neighborhoods like Alfama. Major attractions include the Torre de Belém and the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The city is a significant economic, cultural, and tourist center in Portugal. Lisbon is among the most popular city travel destinations in Europe, attracting around 20 to 25 million visitors annually, including day and overnight guests.

After a delicious meal and 2 liters of sangria, we are ready for bed.
