Midpoint Celebration

Today we are not only celebrating Elke's birthday, but also the midpoint celebration. From tomorrow, half of the journey will be over. After the birthday serenade, some will take care of household tasks, walking their four-legged friends, and other things. A rain shower interrupts our activities. By noon, the rain stops. We set off on our bikes. In Plauen, the RMF has a city tour planned for the afternoon. Ulli drives a few members into town in an electric car. The rest ride their bikes. We meet at the new town hall. Our city guide, Mr. Spranger, told us the stories of Plauen, which was a precursor to the uprising of 1983, long before Leipzig. Pastor Küttler placed himself between the demonstrators and the military. The demonstrations then dissolved peacefully. A bronze candle still reminds us of this. Next, we go to the leaning tower, or am I mistaken? Passing the gossiping ladies, the new and old town halls come into view. A very beautiful market square invites us to linger. We continue to the mud, comparable to a brewery, where Goethe once stayed. Right next to it was the home of Erich Ohser, known for his Father and Son cartoons. On the way to the malt house, we encounter strange figures and modern art. In the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John, we see the stained-glass window Resurrection by Michael Triegel, which was inaugurated just two years ago. Back at the campsite, Ricci holds the briefing.
