After the trip to the Southside and the Gallagher family, we were drawn back to the city. The sunny weather led us back to the Chicago River, to the Riverwalk. Following the sun, we had various spots along the river. In the end, we sat at the river for over three hours and had a lot of fun "people-watching". One can conduct studies while doing so...
The "study" was interrupted by a smoldering fire on a pontoon under a river bridge that was closed for repairs, where a grinder was being used. The sparks ignited waste materials. And for those who might think that the fire could have been extinguished with a commercial fire extinguisher or a bucket of water from the river, they don't know the Americans... a large fireboat from the fire department was called in, which then extinguished the "fire" with a mini-operation. But it was still nice to watch - just another attraction...
