The most impressive cable car route I have ever taken is the Télécabine Panoramic Mont-Blanc. For the sake of simplicity, I will refer to it as the Panorama Route here.

The tour can be approached from both Italy and France. We came directly from Chamonix, which is in France.

The way up from here is not particularly spectacular yet. The cable car that transports you leads to the French Aiguille du Midi. The ride is made in very large cabins, which are squeezed with between 65 and 75 people. I intentionally used this word because the operator indeed wants to take a lot of people up at once due to high demand.

Even at the valley station, there is a lot of hustle and bustle. You actually need to buy tickets early to even get any.

I booked online at

https://aiguilledumidi.montblancnaturalresort.com/en/ticketing

This is the official homepage of the operator. I intentionally sorted it by weather forecast. The rule for the mountains is actually to start as early as possible, which would mean 06:50 AM, but by then, everything was already booked.

The first ride that was still available for me was at 09:55 AM, and our boarding number was 31. On the French document, boarding is referred to as Embarquement.

This number essentially only helps with order. An industrious supervisor is indeed constantly on the move, organizing the groups according to these numbers in pairs! and preventing anyone from sneaking in incorrectly.

Our printed time of 09:55 AM was clearly postponed. The actual ride in the cable car can be imagined like being in a completely overcrowded bus.

Once arrived, one is initially at the intermediate station Plan de l'Aiguille, which is at an altitude of 2,317 meters. Here, one could theoretically interrupt the journey for a hike. But since almost everyone has booked the tour to the very top, the crowd is promptly pushed onto the next gondola, which, of course, is just as full.

Only then are you at the mountain station Aiguille du Midi, which is at an altitude of 3,842 meters. Since returning also needs to be organized, you receive a new number and 1.5 hours to look around at the top.

Unless... and now it gets spectacular: Unless you take the Panorama Tour Mont Blanc right now. Theoretically, you could book this tour online at the same time, but it was sold out for me. However, we were lucky and were able to purchase it at the top.

But before we can really start, there's the next line, as the Panorama Route is operated differently than the one to Aiguille du Midi. Instead of a crowded large cabin, you ride in a 4-person gondola, where, of course, you also sit. Three of these cabins form a group that now travels together.

And now imagine the vast, expansive mountain world. And when I say panorama, I mean panorama. It’s fantastic! The cable car travels through breathtaking landscapes and over the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif. It moves very slowly and sometimes stops; it's like a miracle.

Speaking of miracles: Along the entire 5 kilometers, there are only 2 free-standing supports. The longest free cable span is an astonishing 3 kilometers! This, along with the extremely beautiful view, makes this cable car one of the most beautiful and spectacular in the world. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes to travel from the Aiguille du Midi to the other side, the Italian station Punta Helbronner. Of course, we initially enjoyed the view there and then had to try a real Italian latte macchiato at the bar.

Theoretically, you could now take the Skyway Monte Bianco down into the Italian Aosta Valley. However, we started the return journey and enjoyed the Panorama Route once more. I can truly recommend it wholeheartedly.

But here comes another recommendation to myself: I definitely want to come back here again the other way around, namely from Italy. Not only does the Aosta Valley have much to offer, but also the aforementioned Skyway Monte Bianco. Unlike on the French side, this cabin rotates 360 degrees around its own axis during the ride. This way, you can enjoy the complete panorama. It is an absolute masterpiece and completes the experience perfectly.

However, my story doesn't end here. Of course, after returning to the Aiguille du Midi, we also went up to the very top using the elevator. These 65 meters lead to the summit terrace at exactly 3,842 meters high.

And if that’s not enough, like it was for us, then dare to take
