2024 - July - Rammstein in Frankfurt

Published: 14.07.2024

It's Saturday, the 13th of July 2024, 8:52 p.m. My watch suggests a sleep coaching (!) for this time. Please, what? I am currently in the Frankfurt stadium, surrounded by 40,000 other fans, and Rammstein started their show a few minutes ago. It's loud and intense, as it should be.

I would consider myself a Rammstein fan, after all, it's my fifth concert. Since they didn't play in the Berlin Olympic Stadium this year, we even traveled to Marseille in June. I believe that for Rammstein, you need a stadium atmosphere. And the Stade Vélodrome is truly great. Unfortunately, the French, at least in my section, were very reserved. They mostly just nodded their heads – probably due to the language barrier. So, I needed another experience among true fans. And of course, the people from Frankfurt did not disappoint.

This time, we had the cheapest seats, way up high, but the view was great. And with Rammstein, you really don't have to worry about missing the effects. There are even recordings on the internet where the show was filmed from an airplane, and even from there, the fireworks of the show were still visible.

I do have to make some small concessions regarding the acoustics in the Frankfurt stadium, though. In Marseille, a Scottish sound engineer (!) explained the reason to me. It seems the Rammstein show was actually designed for the Berlin Olympic Stadium, which is significantly larger than the one in Frankfurt.

The sound engineer also told me that the band has two stage sets. While Rammstein performs in one city, the other team is already traveling with the other set to the next venue to set up.

So, what is my conclusion? The atmosphere in Frankfurt was great, the show was fantastic, but so far, no other stadium could match the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

By the way, my Samsung watch wasn't the only one giving me instructions. My girlfriend's Apple Watch kept telling her that it was too loud in her surroundings.

This shows me that we are still far from having AI that really knows what it's doing.
