Week 10: March 9-15:
Thailand 🇹🇭:
Our journey began when we were taken to the airport by Yashoda and Raghunath. Upon arrival in Delhi, the first hiccup of the vacation occurred, as Tina had to exit the plane through her seat in the front middle, while I was directed out the back since I had been seated in the second to last row. So I exited the plane and realized just two seconds later the fatal mistake that had been made. Therefore, I bravely asked if I could use the other exit, but due to regulations, this was not possible and the bus would exactly arrive where Tina had to go. No luck! I asked all possible people how I could find Tina, being without an Indian number (yes, we survived the last two months without one, so we would manage the rest without - but at that moment, there was a brief crisis), as Wi-Fi at Indian airports doesn't easily work without a number with the +91 country code. Truly, no one could help me, so after half an hour, I decided to keep walking back and forth between the three exits. One thing was for sure: we both knew we had to find each other...just dumb luck at the largest Indian airport. However, I eventually spotted Tina. She was holding her phone with 'Leenski' written large on it (not that I could have read it without glasses, but it's the thought that counts). Reunited, we proceeded to Terminal 3, where we soon encountered our Nati. The joy of reunion was immense, as I hadn’t seen Nati for 3.5 months, the longest period since the start of our studies. This little introduction aside, a ‘short’ summary of our vacation follows.🛫
We had planned a joint seven days. The first two nights we spent in Krabi and combined this with a trip to Railey Beach. This was followed by two nights in a bungalow near the sea (really just about 150 meters away) on Koh Lanta, before we were able to move into a villa for our remaining two nights on Koh Lanta, due to a double booking of our originally chosen hostel room. Lucky for us! We spent our last night again in Krabi. Our days consisted of a good mix of activities, relaxation, delicious shakes and drinks, as well as scrumptious food. Once we went on a snorkeling tour that we all really enjoyed. We spotted some fish, sea cucumbers, and even purple, pink, and blue starfish. Additionally, each of us got a well-deserved neck-shoulder-back massage, and Tina had her eyebrows and eyelashes done while Nati and I visited a shelter in Koh Lanta that cares for stray animals, nursing them back to health and vaccinating them. Otherwise, we naturally enjoyed the sea and swam, but at one point, we wanted to test our gym training by climbing the 1260 steps up to the Tiger Cave Temple (it was strenuous, but worth it). We primarily ate Pad Thai and various curries, and everything was really delicious! In Krabi, we visited a night market and tried out the accompanying street food market.🥽
I will definitely travel to Thailand again because I really enjoyed my time there.🥰
➡️ While Nati spent her last week abroad in Thailand after four months on the road, we flew to Mumbai on Sunday evening, where we spent the next few days with our foster brother Dibyo, but more on that in the next post.
