The “Dangers” of the Jungle
A few days have passed since the last post, and I feel like I've settled in a bit more. I explored the area further and made a trail nearby that was actually quite challenging...

Recently, I had an adventure here that was all about the adventure itself. I went into the surrounding rainforest for two nights, exactly 48 hours, alone, just with a hammock, a water canister, a bit of fruit, my pocket knife, and some spare clothes. Sounds exciting? It was! 😂
I did this with the intention of just unplugging, being one with nature, spending time with my thoughts, and listening to the sounds of the rainforest. I did so little, yet so much happened. That's why I don't really know where to start and where to stop telling. However, I would like to share two things: first, my two best animal encounters, and second, three important insights that are either new or intensified during my time there.
Regarding the animal experiences: I had many cool, funny, and beautiful moments, but two stood out in particular. One of them was a surreal experience when a hummingbird appeared out of nowhere while I was comfortably sitting on the ground. No joke – it hovered 50 cm in front of my face, and we looked each other in the eyes for three seconds. It was just crazy.
The second experience was in the evening, just before sleeping, when fireflies usually come out. Have you ever seen fireflies up close? I don't think so… I was lying comfortably in my hammock, and suddenly two landed on my belly. I couldn't believe it. The pure beauty of their glow and how distinctly recognizable it was which body parts lit up was unimaginably beautiful to see.
Now, onto the most significant insights. In total, I noted about 15, but I just want to share three concise ones:
1. The likelihood of spotting an insect here that either no one has ever seen or is not yet officially known is super high.
2. One does not appreciate the three balanced meals a day at all.
3. There is no more calming place than nature – the place that humans are actually meant for.
