New Zealand is a popular film backdrop. We have already been to the Shire, and today we are heading to Narnia.

We are taking a boat tour that will take us to Cathedral Cove, one of the filming locations of 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian'. Since it was expected that we wouldn’t be the only ones wanting to see these places, we opted out of the walk there and are enjoying the rock formations from the water instead. But we search in vain for Cair Paravel and the Narnians.

The views are once again spectacular, and some historical knowledge is also offered. The bay with the buoy where Captain Cook first anchored in New Zealand to map it out.

The thrilling boat ride unfortunately ends all too quickly, and we continue on towards our destination for the day: Shelly Beach. Just a quick ride across the peninsula.

The road is narrow and gets even narrower... phew, this is going to be challenging again. But suddenly, when the road surface disappears and a sign announces gravel road for the next 16 kilometers, we are longing for a more comfortable route! We turn around and look for a decent road. Thus, we reach our destination much more relaxed.

Our parking spot is in the second row to the sea, allowing us to enjoy a beautiful view while having our aperitif!

We really enjoyed Coromandel, and tomorrow we continue our journey south.
