Stilt Houses in Unteruhldingen and Meersburg

From the Baroque and Middle Ages, our journey took us even further back to the Stone and Bronze Ages.

We traveled to Unteruhldingen, a place on Lake Constance where the remains of old stilt houses were found.

The wooden logs date from the Bronze Age and testify to the existence of a village at this location.

Overall, there were many settlements of this kind around Lake Constance, which was used for travel by water.

In an open-air museum, one can visit the reconstruction of these buildings as well as the replicas of Stone Age dwellings.

We also made a stop in Meersburg, a small town on Lake Constance.

In addition to the medieval castle, there is also a New Castle that the bishops of Constance had built in the 18th century.

With the sunny weather, many visitors were strolling along the lakeside promenade and in the higher situated old town with the castles.

We spent the night in Ravensburg with its medieval city center, which we already knew from previous visits as we had friends there.
