Old Castle Rock in Eppenbrunn and Augustusburg Castle in Brühl

There is a hike to the Old Castle Rock that we wanted to do.

With a length of about one and a half kilometers and a height of up to 30 meters, the sandstone formations were truly impressive.

Through weathering, exciting shapes and passages have formed.

The next day, we stopped in Brühl on our way to Xanten.

There, we visited Augustusburg Castle, which, along with the nearby Falkenlust hunting lodge, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

They are an opulent example of Rococo and a princely residence of the 18th century.

Since we wanted to continue to Xanten, we only participated in the guided tour of the castle rooms and did not visit the special exhibition on Rococo or the hunting lodge.

In the late afternoon, we then reached Xanten.
