Yesterday we went swimming in a natural hot spring right on the Waikato River, surrounded by a green paradise. Warmed up by the warm water, we continued hiking to the Huka Falls. An impressive rapid on the Waikato River. After that, we went to the Aratiatia Dam, which is opened every 2 hours and turns into a roaring rapid. These rapids are known from the Hobbit as the barrel ride of the dwarves and Bilbo from the wine cellar of the Wood Elves. With cute ducklings and a few rounds of cards, the day ended at the campsite.
Today we explore Taupo and will take a walk along the lake (a huge crater lake of an still active giant volcano) and take a detour to the museum (volcano and Maori history) (:
