Day 18

From bright sunshine and +27 to sleet and wind +3 in just one day 😮

After a long train journey with border control at the border between Italy and Austria, we arrived at a sunny and warm Innsbruck.

While making our way to our accommodation, a young man offered to help us with our bags up a steep staircase. We were quite skeptical, but he turned out to be a gentleman who, after helping us, simply wished us a pleasant evening.

Dinner was enjoyed at a small neighborhood bistro.

We had a fantastic tortellini filled with cheese and beetroot. It was served with the house's white wine, which turned out to be from Italy.

Today, we started with breakfast at the Breakfast Club. Then we walked through the city and saw the famous Golden Roof!

We have now taken the funicular and gondola up to the Top of Innsbruck /Nordkette.

At the top, we drank hot chocolate with rum and whipped cream. 😋

Now we're stuck together with everyone else at a midway station with wet snow pouring down and the storm raging! The gondola is temporarily out of service!

But spirits are high, so now we’ll have lunch up here among the clouds!
