Day 11

We started the day with a morning walk. Before we were back in our apartment, the rain was pouring down! We then decided to take the bus to San Marino. San Marino is a republic located on the Apennine Peninsula about 12 kilometers from Rimini. The country is completely surrounded by Italy. San Marino is one of Europe's five microstates. After a good lunch in the sunshine, we joined the crowds. We navigated through narrow and very steep alleyways. After a bit of panting, we finally reached the fortress. The view was fantastic, so it was worth the effort. Among all the tourists, there were many people in costumes. Suddenly, a parade appeared led by drums and bagpipes. They were participating in a Como and cosplay festival! On the way down, we suddenly heard someone addressing us in Swedish. We were invited to taste Limoncello. It turned out that the shop owner had vacationed a lot in Sweden, so he spoke fluent Swedish. Of course, we bought Limoncello from him.
