Baphuon and Ta Phrom - Stairway to Heaven and Celestial Place

Every temple is unique, and each one impresses.

It goes high up... and steep down. Step by step, level by level. You can see it on me; it was a hot day, and I was quite glad to be back down. The gentle smile of Buddha accompanies always and everywhere 😇.

Ta Phrom

Place of magic - heavenly spot - everything you are willing to see, you will discover. For a moment, I lost myself in all the patterns, colors, shapes, gaps, and visible things. Everything inspires me to daydream, to see the fantastic; my imagination, of how life, love, and prayer would be in such a place, is vast. Oh wow - what an atmosphere. Enchanted corners, quiet nooks, straight corridors. A stone figure allows me to see two angels facing each other.

It's no wonder that the film Tomb Raider was shot here, the image of Angelina Jolie jumping through the overgrown, rooted door spread around the world. It is very understandable that Angelina Jolie was impressed by Ta Phrom in the Angkor Wat temple complex, touched by the land and its history, so much so that she made a film about the time of the Khmer Rouge's rule.

One relief, often described in travel guides, catches the eye: a dinosaur. Scientists are still debating when it was created - perhaps a joke by a restorer? But not only that catches my attention: isn’t that the donkey from the Bremen Town Musicians and Grisu, the little dragon?😅
