From Campo Grande to Salvador da Bahia

At 7:00 a.m., the sky was bright blue with sunshine! It was still quite chilly outside! We were a little bit happy that we are heading to the warm northwest now! Today I uploaded two photos of the breakfast buffet! This is how breakfast looks in almost every hotel :)! I miss our delicious grain bread and boiled eggs, unfortunately there is always only scrambled eggs! But never mind - different countries, different customs! Instead, there is so much fresh fruit here, very very tasty :)!

We took a taxi to the airport! We quickly checked in and sat down in front of the gate! Brrrr, one goosebump after another! The air conditioning felt like it was set to -5 degrees and icy air blew at us from many small pipes:(((! When we finally sat in the plane, we were very happy about it! Both flights were more than pleasant and in the afternoon, at an outside temperature of 29 degrees, we landed in Salvador da Bahia! Ooooh, the warmth felt/feels so good :)!!!

The ride with the Uber to our accommodation, which is located in the middle of the old town of Salvador, took about 25 minutes! We could see countless high-rise buildings and the favelas! Hui, that wasn't a great area and since I had to sit in the front this time, I anxiously watched how far our hotel was from that area! Our driver showed us the football stadium where the Germans played so successfully in the 2014 World Cup:-)!

We noticed that many streets were decorated brightly! Our driver told us that today is Brazilian Valentine's Day! This day is celebrated with great joy all over Brazil! Then came a street, HELP, unimaginable how people live there! The driver told us not to go through here, it is absolutely not safe! We shouldn't wear jewelry or anything else valuable! THAT is very CLEAR!!!

Our hotel is located in the middle of the old town and it is a beautiful colonial house! It has a lot of style on the inside too! Our receptionist informed us about the streets to avoid and where we could walk through without any problems! He gave us three restaurant recommendations and we were already standing in the busy square in front of our hotel! The people were all in a great mood, music was playing everywhere! It was wonderful, we had absolutely no fear! We watched the hustle and bustle with a big smile on our faces and walked to the restaurant! The people here in Salvador are mainly dark-skinned and dress differently than the people in Rio! I found that very fascinating and everyone was so friendly to us! Tomorrow we will explore Salvador in peace!
