Mit dem Reisebus zur Chapa Diamantina

Published: 15.06.2022

On to Chapa Diamantina :-)!

At 8:00 am sharp, our travel bus was in front of the terminal! Daniela had booked a comfortable bus for the 6 1/2 hour drive! She specifically chose this time so that we could enjoy the scenery! I was impressed with our seats. They were super comfortable and we had a lot of space. The journey could begin.

I mentioned earlier that Daniela wanted to enjoy the scenery. WELL, she managed to sleep for 5 hours out of the 6 1/2 hour drive. I had to chuckle inside. Well, in exchange, I almost pressed my nose against the window pane for the entire journey. I find it fascinating to observe how different people are. We were driving through a town and someone threw trash out of the window or another guy threw all his trash from his car onto the street. Unbelievable!!! We also noticed that there is a lot of litter in the area. It's really sad.

There are so many stray dogs here in Brazil too. Although I now know that the dogs can handle the traffic, my heart stops every time I see a dog running along the road.

Scenic-wise, I liked today's journey better than the journey to the Pantanal. The landscape looked more lush, greener, and livelier. There were densely grown bushes, palm trees, different trees, and occasional lakes and rivers as well as the mountains. It was really awesome to see. It was also very impressive to see different birds flying around.

Unfortunately, I couldn't take many pictures because it started raining.

We arrived at the small bus station in Lencois around 2:30 pm. We wanted to order an Uber, but they don't have that here! There were two guys in front of us with signs that said 'Taxi'! But the cars were just private junk heaps! I asked him how much the ride to the hotel would cost. He named such a high price that we spontaneously decided to walk to the hotel - it was only 15 minutes away ;-) The two guys seemed a little offended and drove off... The small town feels like an old mountain village. All the streets and houses here are decorated too! We didn't have much time for a tour of the town because we still had to prepare our excursion packages for the next two days.

Tomorrow, our guide will pick us up from the hotel at 8:10 am. We're really looking forward to the tours here in this special area.

Best regards
