Weather: Pleasant in every way. Even the wind sometimes pushed.
Well rested, I got up at 7 o'clock and went for breakfast before 8 o'clock. Today was another rich buffet where I could have strengthened myself for a long tour. But compared to yesterday's 135 km, today was my shortest tour so far with 78 km. In addition, I had arranged to meet friends from the Lüneburg Heath in Schneverdingen, which made the tour even easier.
My hotel, which used to be a farm, was located directly next to the Aller, a river that later flows into the Weser. However, the cycle path soon branches off and goes through magnificent natural landscapes. After that, there were many cycle paths right next to the main road. These were nicely paved and progress was fast. The tour also took me through Hodenhagen, a place that I remember well because of its safari park. And also Walsrode with its famous bird park.
After about 50 km, I reached our meeting point where I ate something to pass the time. But my friends Dieter and Barbara were more than punctual and soon we continued, respectively back to Udeloh, where they live.
Directly after Schneverdingen, the landscape changes dramatically, almost like a different world. Everything is flat and filled with heather and large old trees. In short, the typical Lüneburg Heath.
So it went almost continuously to their house, which they built themselves in style a few years ago.
After these intense 9 days with an average of more than 100 km per day, I can now relax here until Tuesday. Only then will I continue to Travemünde.
Dear Barbara and Dieter, thank you very much for your hospitality.
