14 days ago my husband and I set off for one of the great natural paradises on earth.
Costa Rica once again impressed us with its indescribable nature and extremely friendly people. Stress and hectic are foreign words here. The clocks tick in a relaxed rhythm that is balm for the soul. If only there were only a fraction of this serenity in Germany. How beautiful life could be. But our seemingly innate need for perfectionism simply doesn't allow this.
Josh from Seattle, with whom we took the Golfo Dulce boat tour and who has lived in Costa Rica for 20 years, said that his values have completely changed since he has lived here. He said: "I'm not rich, I can't afford expensive cars or houses, but why should I need that? I'm healthy and live in paradise. That's all a person needs. How right he is.
Our trip to Costa Rica was also an experiment. For the first time, we traveled for such a long period of time with people we hardly knew at all. We must conclude that this experiment has failed. The opinions on various things were too different. Above all, the “taker mentality” that two of our colleagues displayed is completely alien to us. We had to realize that we are fundamentally different. If, like us, you are close to each other for such a long time, this is a big problem.
But despite all the odds, we had a wonderful vacation in our little paradise.
