01/03/2023 Arriving in Lapland.

It has been 4 and a half years since my last journey of this scale. And I am very excited for it. Even though my parents constantly reminded me just how cold it is going to be.

But I am sure it will be fine.
After months of preparation I was finally ready to start my next adventure.

We left early in the morning towards the airport and even though I was quite nervous in the beginning it quickly faded into a calm. The next 4 months will be awesome.

The boardings and flights went without much issue. In Stockholm there was an amazing lunch buffet where I put together a collection of salads, meats, and noodles which I all had to throw away because the card reader was broken and I didn't bring any Swedish cash because in the travel guide it said that in Sweden you almost always pay without cash!

Anyways, I ate a sandwich and got on my next flight to Skelleftea. We arrived just 10 mins late and Johanna was there to pick me up with 1 other volunteer, Laura, who has already volunteered here for 10 months last year.

Sadly my backpack did not arrive, which as Johanna said is quite normal. It usually should arrive the next day and be delivered by a taxi. Let's hope for the best!

After a 4-hour drive, we had picked up 1 more volunteer, Svenja, ate some pizza and arrived at the husky farm. There are 7 more volunteers here and 4 'fix' workers. We talked for a bit, then I showered and went to bed.

Tomorrow I have a free day to just kind of explore and get to know the place. After that, the introduction starts.
It's already a lot different from what I expected.

The volunteers are more like part of the family, the houses and showers are almost too warm and so far it seems everyone is rather calm and relaxed.

I think it's gonna be fun.
