#3/6 - AIDAnova - Ålesund

The sun was practically shining into our cabin, waking us up on Tuesday morning 😃. The weather was wonderful and invited us to go on excursions. This time, we booked a hop-on/hop-off tour via GetYourGuide for 440 kroner per person (about 37 euros). The same tour costs 4 euros more with AIDA.

Since we didn't know in advance how the weather would be, we decided against a tour to Mount Stranda (ferry, cable car, hiking, summit of Mount Stranda). Unfortunately, as it turned out, the weather was great in the morning, and the view from there was supposed to be sensational. But one could also have felt disappointed if they paid a lot of money for the tour and then saw nothing or almost flew away 😅. Anyway!

Later in the morning, we disembarked and started our tour at 11 a.m. Unfortunately, the weather had become a bit overcast. Well, we're in Norway .. 😅🙈.

In the meantime, we learned quite a lot about Norway and its history, particularly about Ålesund. I was particularly impressed by the education system, which is apparently considered to be among the best in the world. Compared to our educational landscape, it probably sounds like something out of the 22nd century 😅🙈.

At the second stop, we got off at Mount Aksla. We walked about a quarter of an hour to different viewpoints to admire the view over

Ålesund. We were satisfied even though we would have liked a bit more sun 😅.

In the afternoon, we walked through the city. I noticed that there are many wooden houses here, painted in various colors. We also saw a Viking ship. Magnets were purchased. Let's keep going! 😁

During our departure, the AIDA songs were played, giving us a bit of goosebumps. And behold ... Suddenly the sun came out again! It was truly beautiful to see around Ålesund from the balcony.

The captain checks in regularly to keep us updated on the current situation. We find him very pleasant and friendly.

He announced waves of about 2.5 meters. While that doesn't sound like much, it still caused us some discomfort and manifested in headaches. Moreover, our appetite wasn't that great.. But we still ate because the food is just too delicious 😅!

Additionally, the captain signaled that we might see the Northern Lights during the night, as the sky was expected to be clear. We just had to look north at the right time ... We made an effort, but unfortunately didn't see them. We were a bit sad because other passengers did see them. The captain took photos of the night and showed them to us a few days later! What a pity, but one can't have everything. I guess we'll have to make another trip to Norway 😃!
