Today on Monday, July 04, 2022 is the Independence Day of the Americans. The highest holiday of the year. After enjoying the magnificent fireworks in Madison yesterday, the parade in Madison was actually scheduled for 10:00 am today. But when we woke up, we could see that this parade didn't go through the town center, but further outside the city by a lake. Since we went to bed late yesterday, we didn't feel like dealing with stress and decided to skip it. After a good night's sleep, I made the delicious scrambled eggs that everyone desires, and we enjoyed our breakfast on the porch. Around noon, we walked into the town of Guilford, had a coffee, and watched the activity on Main Street. Here, we saw all kinds of locals driving their Jeep or Harley. After we had seen enough, we returned to the house and drove along the coastal road. In doing so, we discovered new wonderful landscapes and places, like Brandfort. There were wonderful small islands in the Atlantic with magnificent villas on them.
Then we went back to Jacobs Beach, where we cooled off in the sea and enjoyed the evening sun in our beach chairs while reading our books.
For dinner, we went home to Papa Noodles on the terrace. Where we finished the evening.
On Tuesday, July 05, 2022, we wanted to spend the whole day at the beach of our place, Jacobs Beach. It was perfect summer weather and we grabbed the beach chairs, the last cold cans of drinks from the refrigerator, books, and our phones, and relaxed in the Connecticut sun. In the evening, we went to the house to shower. Since I really wanted to try a Lobster Roll again and the local Lobster Bar didn't open until 12:00 p.m. the next day, Anne and I quickly decided to drive to the harbor and order a Lobster Roll 20 minutes before closing. That was fresh, cooked lobster in a bun for a mere $24 each. Since I still had $50 in cash, we went for it. It really tasted incredibly delicious. Instead of champagne, there was beer with it :-). For the children, we got takeout at Pa's Place and brought everything home. In the evening, we went to the harbor again and enjoyed the evening atmosphere at pleasant temperatures. We said goodbye to the sea in Guilford and drove home. Wednesday was the departure to New York JFK and then to Hamburg via Munich.
It was great! Goodbye and see you again. :-)
