Ayutthaya – Thailand
So once again I went with "King Travel" to the pier, and upon saying goodbye to my driver, I mentioned with a handshake that this time I am really leaving. Taking the boat to the mainland and making another stop back at the airport, directly to Trang and then to the train station. Here, I had to kill 4 hours again, but what to do.
I just left my big backpack standing in the small train station hall (can you imagine that in Germany?). And I simply strolled around. I quickly found a soup stall; Thai soup is always a good choice. I gestured with my hands to order everything without rice, please. After that, I kept walking until I spotted a large Buddhist stupa in the distance; it was clear that I had to go there.
Sweaty from the again extreme humidity today, I arrived there 15 minutes later and found an oasis of coolness directly across the street in the 7/11 store, which was kept at a cozy 16 degrees. I also first enjoyed an invigorating iced coffee from the self-service counter.
Afterward, I returned to the train station, where I wandered back and forth for a while, puzzled. Eventually, the sky opened up and poured down in a deluge-like column of water. I still had to wait for another hour, so I discovered the option of showering at the station. I took advantage of the opportunity; however, after another five minutes, I found myself sweating again. No matter, I just sat down on the platform, where the rain was slowly easing up, and a beautiful breeze was blowing, making the wait bearable.
The journey through the night towards Bangkok was again very pleasant, and of course, we arrived on schedule at the “Krung Thep Aphiwat” station shortly after 7 in the morning. Here, I was able to quickly and easily buy a new ticket for the next train in 35 minutes to Ayutthaya at the counter. So there was still time for a small breakfast. Then, just as planned, I boarded the third class of the so-called Ordinary Class, again with open windows and fans on the ceiling, making the journey to Ayutthaya in about 60 minutes.
I had already been there once and knew what to expect. I rode comfortably for two days on my rented red bike from temple to temple, and the sweat flowed again in streams. Therefore, I returned to my "Nature Home" resort every noon, lingering under the shade-giving trees right by the small pool. In the evening, I took my red speedster once again to the land of plenty, i.e., to the nearby Thai food market. Along with delicious fish and rice, there were fried shrimp, a few fruit juices, sticky rice with mango, and tasty filled waffles. A dream.
Now it’s time to pack things up again; tomorrow I will return to Bangkok and from there take China Air with a brief stop in Chengdu back to Frankfurt. So I once again thank everyone who has followed me here with enthusiasm. And I'm already looking forward to next time. Because you know, “After the trip is before the trip”!
