The Catlins

Published: 14.02.2017

Finally we are in the Catlins, which is the southernmost part of the South Island. Only Stewart Island and then the South Pole come after that. Accordingly, the weather is also cold, rainy, and above all unpredictable (it even hailed heavily in between).

In the few days we have been here, we have seen a lot of things. Since it would be too much to say something about everything, I prefer to describe how the Catlins are in general and include a few pictures.

So here, there is mostly forest. On our journey, we have hardly seen any forests until now. Then there are many waterfalls here and a very beautiful coastline.

At this waterfall, there was a path that led up the side and you could stand in the middle of the waterfall and look down the 22 meters.

In retrospect, I can say that the Catlins is one of the most beautiful regions of New Zealand for me.
