Dear followers,
we're back to update you from Pittsburgh. The last few weeks have been a bit quiet on this blog, as there wasn't much to report or the time for that hadn’t come yet.
As you know, we have been continuously in Pittsburgh since January. We are still in the process of exploring the neighborhoods and suburbs of Pittsburgh, meeting friends, and of course working during the week.
Julian is currently occupied with training his successor at work and was also with him for five days in Sunnyvale. And that brings us to the right topic. We have been receiving some messages about how things are progressing for us, with questions about when we are coming home, or whether we will return home or extend our stay here in the USA. We were able to clarify all of that in the last few weeks. Our last working day here in the United States will be on 29.05.25, and that same evening, we will be flying back to Germany. This means that from Friday afternoon, 30.05.25, you will find us back home in Germany. Julian will continue working at Bosch as planned, and I (Tanja) have decided after much contemplation not to return to my old job in Ludwigsburg. You will find me at the beginning of June in a health center in Calw, which I am really looking forward to. As you can see, everything is now planned for our return trip, so we can enjoy our last two months in Pittsburgh to the fullest.
But what else is happening with us in the near future? Actually, we were eagerly awaiting friends from home last Friday. Unfortunately, they couldn’t fly to Pittsburgh as planned due to a power outage at London Airport. And there were also no possibilities to fly to us on Saturday and Sunday. The disappointment was understandably very great on both sides, as we were incredibly looking forward to this visit, and Mirko and Louis were looking forward to their vacation as well. We are even more excited that they can now spend Monday to Friday in New York City as planned and will fly to us on Friday (the plan was for them to fly to Pittsburgh for the weekend and then fly to NYC on Monday morning to return for the weekend).
Of course, we have quite a bit planned for this weekend: We will be doing a tour of the Acrisure Stadium (football stadium) and visiting the inside of the stadium. In addition, the four of us are going to Niagara Falls, outlet shopping, and back to Cleveland. This time, however, it will be for a basketball game. On Monday, we will spend the last day in Pittsburgh before Mirko and Louis's flight back to Germany in the evening. So the weekend is fully scheduled, and we are even more excited to see them again this weekend.
In April, we will be in Pittsburgh for the first half, and I will run my next half marathon before we go on vacation for two and a half weeks in mid-April. Where to and with whom, you will find out soon.
So stay tuned and see you soon,
Julian & Tanja
