In the morning, I spontaneously join Mary, the Irish girl, to go on a day trip. We first walk to the amphitheater in Pula. You really wouldn't expect it to be located in the middle of the city, surrounded by busy streets.
Then we continue by bus to the fishing village of Fažana, which is 6 km away from Pula on the west coast of Istria, and from there we take the ferry to Brijuni National Park. Personally, I found the entrance fee to be too expensive (200 Kuna = 27 euros), but since we're already here...
On the way, we also meet Eva from Germany, who accompanies us to the Brijuni Islands. She is a prospective professor of English, coming directly from the airport and will attend a conference on Brijuni. It's interesting to see which places are chosen for such a conference...
After a 'train ride' with a guide through the national park, passing by a safari park, we sit on the beach while I go swimming and Mary talks on the phone with her boyfriend and her mother.
Back in Fažana, we go out to eat. Once again, the restaurant recommendation from Tripadvisor was a lucky find. For 60 Kuna (= 8 euros), we get super fine fish with potato and spinach side dishes. This meal is now on my list of the best meals of this trip, along with the Indian à la Ali and the salmon penne in Umag.
Until the bus leaves, we still have time to stroll along the harbor. After the sun has set, we see a fantastic spectacle of colors. The constellation of the clouds and the colors of the sky change every minute, I don't think I've ever seen such an interesting sunset before!
