Jargeau

The difference couldn't be more pronounced: Rather fresh to moderate temperatures in Normandy, resulting in lush greenery everywhere, agriculture as far as the eye can see, and always the possibility of being by the sea in a short time.

Now, after a five-hour drive (including breaks), we have arrived at the campsite in Jargeau, a bit outside of Orléans. The place is idyllically situated on the Loire, the campsite is just okay, perfectly fine for three or four nights. However, where we stood on lush green grass in Trouvières, the grass here is already a dried-out brown. We feel like we are back in the early days in Corsica in July – but we are in central France, and it is just a bit more than mid-June...

We take a short bike ride into the village, so to Jargeau and across the bridge to Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel, which is just across on the other bank of the Loire. The area is incredibly beautiful, and everything seems very peaceful here. And the churches of Jargeau and Saint-Denis seem to be in mutual competition.
