Fécamp

We arrived on Monday at our destination (but not the end) of our journey: Fécamp on the Alabaster Coast in Upper Normandy. Once an important port for cod fishing, it is now more tourist-oriented and known for its steep chalk cliffs that drop into the sea. At least as impressive as the cliffs is a visit to the ‘Musée de la Pêche de Fécamp,’ housed in a former cod drying facility and opened in 2017. It showcases various collections related to the history of the place, fishing, and life in Fécamp. Particularly successful is the mix of objects displayed across four floors and the contemporary exhibition concept. As a highlight, there is an observation pavilion on the roof that offers a 360° view of the sea, the cliffs, and the valley of Fécamp.
