The sky promised sunshine, so we took a very nice hike along Lake Tarawera. In an extremely fast boat, we were taken to the starting point of the hike. The skipper was a Maori. They are so proud of their land, give tips, and help wherever they can. He took us to another location near the actual starting point. There was a natural 'hot pool' there, incredibly warm at 37 °C, not marked on any map. We enjoyed a really cool warm bath in the middle of nature.
We saw small kangaroos and completely unknown birds that couldn't be photographed.
It rained at least 8 times or more in between. The weather changes constantly, which takes some getting used to. You really have to carry everything you need for hiking, a very nice day.
