We drove to the beautiful town of New Plymouth on the west coast and managed to get a spot with a sea view. The beach is very nice, lots of surfers, impressive sunset. Nearby is the St. Egmont National Park with Mount Taranaki, often in fog, but today with lots of sunshine. In winter, it is a ski resort.
The sun spoils us, beach feeling, it's good.
At the end of the hike, Martina ceremoniously 'buried' her hiking boots, they were faithful companions for 20 years, now they can't be used anymore.
