Okanagan Valley - Peachland

Published: 22.07.2018

We left Revelstoke on Highway 1. Today, Jill was sitting in the passenger seat and soon spotted a moose by the roadside. What luck we had again! 😝

Outside of Revelstoke, we stopped at '3 Valley Gap - Heritage Ghost Town'. An old village with a school, barber shop, grocery store, bank, saloon, etc. was built and decorated with many details from the past. A beautiful collection of classic cars (mostly Ford) and a huge roundhouse (originally for locomotives) completed the lovely exhibition.

We then continued on to Sicamous and Enderby, where we made a short lunch break and checked out the flea market across the street (all junk 😂!).

Okanagan Valley

Thanks to its warm climate, the Okanagan Valley is used for agriculture, with many fields of grain and fruit trees. In the far south are the famous wine-growing areas.

Vernon was the first truly larger city we passed through, apart from Calgary. The road followed an offshoot of Okanagan Lake. Everything became more urban (houses, shops, restaurants, billboards, and countless car dealerships), and there was much more traffic.

Kelowna, with a population of about 120,000, was even larger! 😳

On the other side of the shore, about 20km south, was our destination for the day, Peachland.

Todd's RV Camping is right on the lake. Berni and I went for a jog to the next town, all along the lake, and back, a total of 6km.

After the delicious spaghetti dinner, we sat by the shore again with coffee and tea, enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. There was some smoke rising due to small forest fires on the other side of the lake.

Tomorrow, on Sunday, we plan to do some shopping in Kelowna... 🛍💳😊
