Today we head to the main destination of our journey: Carcassonne.
After Maria read the book Labyrinth during our cycling trip in 2024, it became clear that we needed to plan a trip to France and visit Carcassonne.
Shortly after the start, we take a break in Conilhac-Corbieres and are promptly yelled at by a woman from an upper floor, telling us not to park our bikes in front of the disabled parking. It is zero-eight-twenty-four. Only two mothers with their children are riding (to school). And the neighborhood watch is calling.
No one else comes here because of that ugly thing. Quite different from Frankfurt-Bornheim. The little tower in Bernem is something completely different...
In Moux, the Greek parts of the residents must have been at work, as they made the place name sign unreadable. Also at the exit of the village!
In Trèbes, we take a lunch break and park at the town hall. At the entrance, we find two memorial plaques commemorating the terrorist attack on March 23, 2018. At that time, hostages were taken in a supermarket by an Islamist terrorist in this town. A gendarmerie officer lost his life while volunteering for the exchange of a hostage. Here you can find more about the operation.
