Hiking on the Harzer Hexen Trail
The route

This morning it began: at eight o'clock everything was packed, strapped to the bikes and secured.
The bikes handle like fully loaded tankers; in a few days we'll be accustomed to it again. We fully immerse ourselves in the morning bike traffic on the cycling path along the Alster. At the corner of Alsterufer/Kennedy Bridge, there’s a group of about 40 bicycles waiting for green at the traffic light. Clearly, not everyone will manage to cross the intersection. Some have to remain standing on the intersection. But it works out well for all.
In Freiburg, we are happy that the train ride with our luggage and bikes has come to an end, we check into the hotel, and stroll through the old town in 32° C.
In Freiburg Cathedral, we are initially a bit puzzled by the laser beams, until we realize that they are tense threads running through the church. It looks really amazing with the sunlight what the artist Elke Maier has installed there.
Then the moment arrives: delicious wheat beer, along with a salad (Maria with mixed salad and poultry breast, Michael with Alsatian sausage salad).
At Martin's Bräu, we found the daily returning theme menu:
And on our way back to the hotel, we saw the first (rough) signpost for the tour at the town hall square.
Tomorrow after breakfast, we head towards France.
