The Yellowstone NP is approximately 100km long (north-south direction) and about 80km wide (east-west direction). For the average tourist, it is accessible via roads in the shape of an 8, and thus the northern loop of the 8 represents the northern part for us.
The most famous highlight in this section of the park is the travertine terraces of the Mammoth Hot Springs. Additionally, there are many hiking trails, some waterfalls, a particularly wildlife-rich valley (the Lamar Valley), and - generously included by us, as it lies in the middle part of the 8 - the Norris Geyser Basin, one of the geothermal areas of the park.
We had 2 overnight stays in the northern part and had our hands full properly admiring the attractions located here. When we were here in 20214, it rained a lot. This time, we were spoiled by sunshine, blue skies, and temperatures around 30°C, making the stay a pure delight.
