Oahu

The second stop on our island hopping was the island of Oahu, home to Honolulu and the adjoining Waikiki. In contrast, the north coast of the island is more sparsely populated, where one beach follows another. In between, there are also tropical rainforests and volcanic craters.

Unfortunately, we also failed here in Oahu with an activity that was actually planned: Hanauma Bay - the most famous snorkeling spot in Oahu - can now only be visited with a reservation, and unfortunately, we missed out on that :-( . At least we managed to get tickets for climbing Diamond Head - a volcanic crater on the outskirts of Waikiki - and we struggled up the 330 meters (over 1048 steps made of railway sleepers) to Koko Head. And we also did some snorkeling at Shark Cove in the north.

Overall, Oahu was definitely an improvement compared to Kauai.
