The Thai wedding and me as a special guest.

Music played until 1 AM. And at 4 AM it started again. I was annoyed. I got up at 7 AM and went downstairs.

There was preaching in the living room for the bride and groom.

Then it was quite chaotic. Photos were taken and the bride sat on the sofa with her phone from time to time. (Picture: me, the bride, and Sartre)

And here's the stage for the rest of the celebration.

Then it continued. The groom had to buy his way through the chains.

Then the two of them sat here.

He had put several gold chains on her.

Then guests came and attached threads with banknotes to their wrists.

There was quite a bit of money.

And they bowed.

Sartra's mother (whom I had met) and Rin, the bride.

An older lady also attached two threads to me and then rubbed them. They symbolize well-wishes like prosperity and health.

Then back in the living room. Guests attached more threads.

Then the two of them prayed to some bedding items. They did this about ten times! We didn't get a proper answer as to why they did it. It's just tradition.

Then they went to the bedroom. Only a portion of the guests went with them.

Nang, the groom, fed Rin.

Then they lay down on the bed and let themselves be photographed like animals in a zoo. A completely crazy idea for any European.

At the celebration, many people wanted to drink, eat, and talk with me. We bridged the language barrier with a translation app. In any case, the Thais wanted to get me drunk, but they didn't succeed. By 2 PM, most of them had already left and I went to sleep.

In any case, strange times for such a celebration. In the evening, we walked around a bit.

Especially for me, we even made an omelette in the evening.

There was something local as well.

Not particularly spectacular. But for the past two days, we didn't have tap water, so being able to wash now was a highlight. And manually! Fill with water, wash, drain, fill with water, rinse, drain, fill with water, rinse, drain. And done.

Coincidentally, during this time Sartre's sister Rin married her fiancé Nang. And I was the only white person at the celebration in the 100-person village. Many locals wanted to talk, drink and eat with me. Some even took pictures. Understandable, since it's not often that a white person visits such a small village in Thailand.
