After almost five days in Singapore, it was time for the next stop on our journey: Taiwan. More specifically: Taipei.
The flight there was a little highlight in itself. We flew with Starlux Airlines, a Taiwanese airline that pleasantly surprised us. Very good food, attentive service, and everything somehow felt a bit nicer than usual.
And here too, it continued with what we had already noticed in Singapore:
sweet prints, playful designs, and small Asian cartoon characters everywhere. It somehow ties everything together and makes it all a bit more charming.
Upon arriving in Taipei, we headed straight to the Kimpton Da An Hotel. The hotel is located quite centrally in the Da’an District, one of the most vibrant areas of the city. The design is modern, minimalist, and has a very calming atmosphere. Exactly what you need after a day of travel. Additionally, the hotel is known for its very personal service and little extras like a daily social hour with drinks.
Of course, we were hungry after that. So we just set off walking, without a concrete plan, simply through the streets of Taipei. Just as one should. Eventually, we ended up at a small ramen restaurant. No big signs, no hype, but exactly what we needed.
And as often happens, those turned out to be the best decisions in the end. On the way back to the hotel, we passed by a Uniqlo. At that moment, it was clear: I will definitely go in there in the next few days.
